Champion of Champions Award for co2balance

co2balance have been crowned “Champion of Champions” at the annual Green Apple Awards for Environmental Excellence.

After receiving the award at the House of Commons, co2balance will now be setting their sights on Europe, as the overall “Champions” are automatically entered into the European Business Environmental Awards for the Environment.

In addition to the winning the overall “Champion of Champions” Award, co2blance also won the Eco-Champion Award for Business Green Practice.  Collecting the Award, Naomi Kelt from co2balance said: “We are delighted to be coming away from the awards with two trophy’s, and winning the overall award is a fantastic way to be recognised for the work that we have been doing in tackling climate change”.

The news follows praise by the Kenyan Minister of Tourism for the carbon offset projects that co2balance are running in Kenya.  The Hon Najib Mohamed Balala endorsed co2balance’s “triple benefit” approach that aids the environment as well as the local economy and communities within Africa, saying that it is the “correct way forward in tackling climate change”.

co2balance achieved the award as a result of their Low Carbon Village Project, which uses a series of low carbon technologies combined into a carbon offset scheme.
